You Could Play All Ten Louisville Metro Golf Courses for FREE with this Real Golf Hack... But do you want to?
Eric BolingI've played golf in Louisville for over a decade, and of those few hundred rounds of golf, not once have I ever paid one cent less than full going rate, plus cart fees. So you can imagine my surprise when browsing the official louisvilleky.gov website page all local golfers have visited to book a round at the Metro Courses page, and stumbled upon a little known policy that technically would allow you to play any of Louisville's ten public golf courses... free.
No such thing as a "free" round of golf. Nor is there a "discount" round of golf.
Let me start by saying, the price to play the public courses in Louisville alone has potentially saved me more money than I've collectively spent playing golf at them in my lifetime. But with the typical round with a cart (as if there were any other option 😂) costing $25-ish - how is that, multiplied by the 200+ rounds of golf I've potentially played at the public courses over the past 15 years... Saving me money?
Well, it's not motherfucker 😂 but hypothetically, if you were to total the cost of all those rounds of golf played at many of Louisville's private or semi-private courses, it would be about twice as expensive - at the most affordable of private/semi-private courses - making the 50% savings, roughly the total of what I have paid lifetime playing our public courses.
If you want to see how expensive golf can really be, look at the price of playing 18 holes at Louisville's most prestigious courses.

I spaced out just now (it's 4:17am) and in my little alien dream an epic clash between the elite golf clubs and the muni's was taking form, and my mind instantly signaled that some kind of meaning was associated with the vision. A signal I decoded as robinhood-esque.
ha, trippy.
Some people really take shit like that to heart, like it's trying to tell you something. I'm not saying I never do that, but just this one in particular I found completely meaningless, being that "the timeless clash between rich and poor" is just the most cookie cutter inference one could make of the scene. I mentally replied "No shit Sherlock" and started typing this paragraph.
Moving on, here's why you clicked this article.
Per a sentence of text on the official page for Louisville Metro Golf Courses:
"Golfers who cannot afford greens fees are allowed, to the extent practicable, to perform work of equivalent value at the course or clubhouse to earn play privileges."
From what I can tell, this rule applies Louisville’s 10 public golf courses, and judging by the fact it's on the site today, leads me to believe this coupon is good for cashin' boys 😎
Though, it appears this policy only applies to local golf lovers who are also broke. So... Count me out.
I am kind of curious what work the pro shop attendant would have you do, and for how long. Or if they'd just give it to you off-top, out of sympathy.
Did you know they sell yearly golf passes allowing you to play any of the 10 public courses as much as you want all year? I bet you didn't know that if you buy any Louisville Metro Parks merch from LOUISVANA™ Golf, you can get a substantial 25% discount on the 2024 Louisville Metro Parks Pass. That's the only discount that's ever been given for this pass, and the only place you can get the discount on Earth. That's compelling, fam.
I'm tapping out. Peace ✌🏻
